Will Removal Take Place at My First Appointment?

Cyst removal is usually arranged as a separate procedure appointment after your consultation, so the right time can be set aside and the area prepared. Small, straightforward cysts may occasionally be removed on the day where appropriate and time allows — Dr Raffner will advise.

Treatment Options

  • Surgical excision with primary closure — removing the cyst sac intact to reduce recurrence
  • Excision of lipomas through a small incision
  • Histology of excised tissue where clinically indicated

Histology Arrangements

Excised cysts and lipomas may be sent for histopathology to confirm the diagnosis, particularly if the appearance is unusual. Histopathology is charged separately at £295.

Recovery & Aftercare

  • Keep the wound clean and dry for the first 24–48 hours
  • Follow the wound care instructions provided
  • Stitches are removed at a follow-up appointment
