Will Removal Take Place at My First Appointment?

Skin tags are small and straightforward, so removal can often be carried out at your first appointment where it's appropriate and time allows. Dr Raffner will confirm this after examining the tags.

Treatment Options

  • Shave / snip excision under local anaesthetic
  • Cryotherapy (freezing) for suitable small tags
  • Removal of multiple tags in a single appointment

Histology Arrangements

Skin tags are benign and are not routinely sent for histology. If a lesion looks unusual or atypical, it may be sent for histopathology to confirm the diagnosis, starting from £180.

Recovery & Aftercare

  • Minimal downtime — most people return to normal activities immediately
  • A small scab may form and drop off within a few days
  • Keep the area clean and dry while it heals
  • Avoid picking any scab to reduce scarring
